Because I am a Girl...
Today was Jeremy's Eagle Scout project day. I stayed for most of it, but just returned home to put away the left-over food. Most of the time I felt completely useless, because all I did was fetch water and take pictures. They wouldn't let me do any of the 'manly stuff' because I might "mess up my clothes." Who cares? I can do pretty much anything those boys can. They just wouldn't let me do anything useful because I am a girl. Male chauvenists.
Sorry. Bad attitude. *slaps self*
Even though I didn't do much intensive labor, I am quite dirty and sweaty (go figure), so I think I shall go get a shower now. Not much else to write about for the moment.

I would have been like WELL FINE. And run crying to some random father that the boys wouldnt let me help. Oh yes.
Gets 'em every time.
LOL
Oh well, let the boys do all the work!
It was the dads who wouldn't let me do the work. Oh well. It's funny, because I don't think they know that I am quite the handywoman. Their loss.
Dude, pictures are more important to Jeremy then any of the work the scouts did. Documenting a eagle project is really really important.
Sweet... so I did do something useful. I take it you are (or were) in Scouts, Robert.
Well you did get out of working, but thats really unfair of those fathers. *shakes fist*
We need to go work on the habitat for humanity house!
Carey, you are correct.
Unfair to the fathers? What?
Julia was just saying she thought it unfair that the fathers wouldn't let me do any 'heavy labor' (most of it was just painting).
I was ticked off, but I think they were being honorable about it. Chivalry isn't completely dead, but many modern women like myself don't know what to do with it. We aren't used to being treated like treasures, and so many of us think it weird.
Hey, its a boy scout troop!
Chivalry should be expected.
Indeed,
It should be expected,
But is rarely present.
If you find a troop that has it,
It's most likly a Christian troop.
It was good the boys didn't let you work.
It isn't proper for a girl t obe doing that sort of work when there are plenty of boys to do it.
That and the waterr was apreciated I'm sure.
And Robert is right,
Without you pictures,
The entire project would have been useless.
Thanks, but the work wasn't that hard. I did sheetrock/ceiling repair, moved paving stones, painting, and other various things in Mexcio last summer. That was a lot more difficult than painting basletball goals. I love work like that - dirty, sweaty stuff.
*stares blankly*
If they needed your help, they would have asked. In mexico, they did. So, they asked. At his eagle project, he had his planning worked out to the minute, and your physical skills were unnessesary. So, he took advantage of your other skills, ie, the camera.
I know, I know... I'm over it now. It's all good.
Aw, I'm sorry. Everyone thinks I'm helpless and weak 'cause I'm small. Well, just let them wait until World Changers...
*chuckle* Yeah, people assume if you are small (height or around) that you can't do any heavy labor. I trekked across London with an 80-lb pack for 10 hours and can carry up to 120 lbs.
Heh, I can lift my dad (165) and my brother (almost 200). Not carry, but lift. I love working. =P
