A Pattern?
I recently looked at my DVD collection and saw a bit of a pattern with titles such as "Down With Love" and "Ten Things I Hate About You." Coincidence or sub-psychological adverseness to men?
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14, ESV)

"Down with Love"? Watch it with chocolate on hand. The movie is (almost?) redeemed when she tells him that she wants him to want to marry her first and seduce her later. Great line. It's not just a trend in your DVD collection; I think it is a reflection on society. We are disenchanted with love because we have cheapened it so much, but then we really do long for the real deal.
*laughs* I always make sure I have chocolate on hand!
Yes, it is definitely a trend in society. Very true.
Hehe.
May I refer you to the post 'When none will lead..."
:D
What a post that was, and what a discussion you two had! I think that women killed chivalry, I really do. If we can do everything for ourselves, why should a man open a door for us? My pastor recently said that when men don't lead women still should not take over. In theory it sounds great, but I'm not sure how it works practically. My father is not the best spiritual leader in the world and I know that it has caused a lot of stress on my parents' marriage (which has improved a lot over the past two years, praise the Lord!).
Sorry, I have to do this! "But beware of men" (Matthew 10:17a). Jesus said it! Amazing what the Bible can say if you choose just the right fraction of a thought...
*laughs* Funny, Angie.
Personally, I think women in leadership (like in a church setting) further emasculates the men, so that's not a good idea. But in the case of my family - for instance - it was a matter of survival.
I'm one of those people who will step into leadership if no one else will stand (though I am glad to step down if a godly man is willing to take the place).
Yes, and in Revalation somewhere it says men will be in heaven like an hour earlier then women.
Selective quotes are fun. :D
I didn't want to start another arguement.
Do you have any real movies on your self? Like Star Wars, LOTR, I,Robot, or independance day?
Real movies? LOL
Of course I have LOTR -- all three and extended -- and... let's see... Phantom of the Opera, Rory O'Shea Was Here (not released in US - had to get it from British guy on ebay), Passion of the Christ, Finding Nemo... not much. Rent most of my movies.
In case anyone wants to know, this is my DVD wishlist...
Braveheart
Gladiator
We Were Soldiers
Saving Private Ryan
Last Samurai
All the Star Wars Movies
All the star wars movies?
Thats a heavy order. :D
Out of that list, I've only seen the Star wars and Saving Private Ryan.
You haven't seen any of the rest??
